Tagged...again

My bloggy BFF, Sandy, tagged me and I couldn't wait to play along!

Soaring Through Second

1. Favorite color?
My favorite color changes all the time!  Right now I'm loving green and navy blue together, like a peacock's feathers.
2. Favorite TV show?
Currently, Property Brothers.  I love seeing how they can take a home that sometimes is basically falling apart and turn it into something fabulous.
3. Favorite sports team?
Ohio State.  Brutus is our classroom mascot and I got this assortment of goodies from my students this past Christmas.  O-H!
4. Favorite ice cream?
It would have to be a strawberry vanilla twist cone from my favorite local soft serve.
5. Favorite food?
My husband and I really love to cook and eat, so this is a really hard question!  I'd have to say the favorite dish that I make is my orange chicken.
I also really like making cake batter cookies.
These gems are from my food blogging days.... :)
6. Favorite memory?
Oh gosh, this is hard! I'd have to saw when my husband was my fiance and had been traveling for work for about two months.  I was at work and one of my students yelled "It's Mr. Fish," during my math lesson. Yes, my kids called him Mr. Fish.  My hubs had brought me flowers and lunch and then went outside with me for recess duty and played kickball with my boys and did my read a loud for me before he went home.  It was a memorable day for myself and my students.
7. Favorite thing to do outside of school?
I feel like I don't have much free time these days but I do enjoy cooking and lately I enjoy dreaming up ideas to decorate our new house.
8. Favorite book?
I read a lot in the summer, so I love Emily Giffin, if you enjoy her books you should like her on Facebook-she's pretty active on her page and quite funny, and Elin Hilderbrand.  I loved Something Borrowed (EG) and Blue Bistro (EH)
9. Favorite beauty product?
 10. Favorite movie?
It would have to be You've Got Mail, I own all three versions and yes there are three.
The Shop Around the Corner
In the Good Ole Summertime
You've Got Mail
I'm going to break the rules and not tag a bunch of other people.  Not that I don't want to but since I'm putting grades in and have to finish up my plans for next week, and super I'm crunched for time.
Instead I'm going to highlight a blog I found today that I spent a good chunk of the morning reading.  Organization does not come easy for me.  I'm quite messy.  Long before Pinterest, I would ask my super organized colleagues what worked for them and copied it.  Before my last minute move to a different building this past summer, my classroom was VERY organized.  This year, it's a different story, I haven't had a chance to make the space work for me yet and to be honest, I've known full well I could be moving at the end the year, either back to the school I was at for four years or to a different grade level in the building, so I haven't invested the time.  Anyways, I discovered Elementary Organization today and fell.in.love!

I love all of Eryn's great ideas for organizing small spaces, since my hubs and I currently live in a condo, I kept saying "Why didn't I think of that?" while reading her blog!

I hope ya'll are joining your weekends!  Don't forget about my grand opening sale! Click on the picture to head there!

Thursday Things

1. Have ya'll seen these things?  They always creep me out and I was surrounded them at Meijer today.  Not cool, not cool.
One year my grandma bought one for Easter.  Kinda like how I refuse to sit on the side of the tree with the creepy fake doves at Christmas, I refused to sit at the side of the table the creepy bunny cake was on.  I sure hope there isn't a creepy bunny cake at this year's Easter.

2. I feel like I've done nothing this spring break.  I keep starting and stopping working on this unit.  Which I shamefully admit that there is not much there other than the cover page so far.

I'm okay with that because the cover page sure is cute, and because this break has all about recharging.

Have I told ya'll I got a new kid?  A new kid with a behavior file so big his old school had to send it via a CD from their imaging department.  A kid who on this second day of riding the bus, made the bus driver pull the bus over for screaming a word that starts with f repeatedly and was making threats towards another student.  A kid who on the one day I was out last week, spent most of the day in the office for using words that start with f, d, a, and s to the other kids in my class.  Bless the heart of my poor sub that day.  I'll just say this student has lots of boundaries in my room, a seat by himself, a spot on the carpet, and I'm his shadow the entire time he's in my room.   It's been exhausting.

3. I really wish The Loft would stop sending my emails, coupons, and flyers promoting their cute new clothes and tempting me with offers of sales.  I'm building a house and I need a lot of furniture to put in that house, and builds, and cabinet knobs, and lots ofter things that I'm I don't even know about yet.  So I really wish they would play their part and stop tempting me spend money.  Refreshing my spring wardrobe this year means spending $5 on new flip flops at Old Navy.  Brown and black basics, baby.

4. Can we talk American Idol a minute?  I'm a big ole fan of Skylar. I love her spunk.

I sat on my couch blubbering like a baby when she performed last night.   Not only is Beaches one of my Top 5 Favorite Movies Ever, but "Wind Beneath My Wings"is my family's tribute song for my grandfather who died of a brain tumor when I was a little girl.  So yeah, I voted for little Miss Skylar last night.

Who's your favorite?

5. My grandma sent my husband and I $10 for Easter.  We used it go out for ice cream.  Yes, we're seven.

6. I'm having a sale! Click {here} to check it out!

Enjoy your night friends! I'm off to make some cookies.  Clearly I have priorities. I have a big ole bag of school work I could work on, but instead I'm making cookies.

Double Digit Addition Activities {Giveaway}

I'm going to be honest.  I should have titled this the "whining post".

This year's spring break has not be going according to plan.  My allergies have prevented me from enjoying the gorgeous weather we've been having.  Instead, I've been cooped up inside.  Yesterday's thirty minute excursion to our lot/new neighborhood spiraled my allergies out of control again.  At this point, I can't even take my doggie for a long walk outside, without coughing and sneezing every five seconds.  But anything is better than last spring break where it was frigidly cold, it snowed, and my husband was living in Atlanta and I was living in Ohio.  So I'm gonna go ahead and stop whining now. :)

Oh, and I finally created a new product for TpT! A bundle of various games to practice double digit addition.  Since I came to second after four years of teaching third grade, I know exactly what skills my little darlings need complete mastery of for third grade and double digit addition is one of them. While they did great on their assessment, I want to make sure this uber important skill stays fresh!  My district does not do regrouping until third grade, but I've included recording sheets for those who you with sweet second graders that do. :)

You can check this activity pack at my Teachers Pay Teachers Store or my Teacher's Notebook store.  I just set up my Teacher's Notebook store, so it's a little messy, don't judge. ;)
Also, TpT is just not accepting my images today, so it might look a little goofy.  Hopefully it will be fixed soon!

Baseball's opening day is tomorrow and I'll be giving this file away to the first person who can guess the MLB team I live closest too. Hint, I live in Ohio--that should narrow it down for ya'll. :)

April Currently :)

A little explanation on my super powers:
As if you couldn't tell from my previous post, I'm just a little excited about our new house. :)  I wish that I had this upgrades superpower on Friday when we went to our builder's design center.  They offered 50% off upgrades up to a $15,000 discount and upgrades add up FAST and in most cases are overpriced.  We had to forgo things we really wanted (like granite in the kitchen and quartz in the bathrooms) to get things like a gas furnace, a better lot, an elevation change to better fit in the neighborhood, ceiling vaults, garage extension, and rod iron banisters.  Luckily, my aunt works for a marble/tile/granite company and can get us those items at a huge discount when we choose to make those upgrades later.

This is the first year in my five years of teaching that I've been in a building without A/C and I've never realized how sensitive I am to tree pollens, since my windows are open all day.  I've spent the first three days of my spring break on the couch sniffling b/c my sinuses/allergies have flared up again, after being off for a day the week before with them.  Thankfully, with medication, they are under control again, but it's been miserable not being able to enjoy the gorgeous weather.  I have one little darling that might have to go on home instruction until the pollen regulates.  Her poor eyes water the moment she walks into to school and never stops.  I feel so bad for her! She's missed so much school lately because of her allergies over the past week. :(

Thanks again to our hostess, Farley for hosting this super fun linky! I always look forward to it each month! :) Plus this month, she hosting a cute lunch box give away!
