Easter Roll and Cover and a Freebie

Remember me? So sorry it's been awhile between my posts.  Things have been a little crazy in the Fourth and Ten Household lately.  Our spring break starts tomorrow at 4:00 and am I so excited!

I'm looking forward to the break because I have lots of classroom ideas to share with you and I will also have time to put the finishing touches of the second set of spring graphic organizers and share my spelling contracts throughout the entire year since you liked March's so much! :)

Last night, I finally finished my Easter Roll and Covers.  My darlings, especially the girls were so excited to get them in their hands today! They are suckers for anything with pretty pastels! :)

I hope these aren't too late for y'all but my kiddos don't really mind playing with boards that are just past the prime celebration time for holidays. In fact, we are still rockin' the St. Patrick's Day Roll and Covers. :)  You can check out the Easter ones by clicking on any of the pictures above or {here} in my Teachers Pay Teachers store.

Tomorrow most of our day will be consumed with our Egg Drop and some PBIS rewards like an extra recess for good behavior.  However, we will be participating in one of my favorite classroom traditions, an egg hunt.

I always buy enough plastic eggs for all the kiddos in my class and put all my classroom numbers on them.  Inside I put a homework pass and a piece of candy.  I hide the eggs around the room and make them find their egg, aka the egg with their classroom number on it.  My kiddos always love it and it's just proof that bigger kids love cute stuff too.

Here's the homework pass I plan on placing inside their eggs.  Just click {here} or on the picture below to access it via Google Drive.
I'm off to go enjoy some Duck Dynasty! Anybody else LOVE that show? Uncle Si and Jase are my favorites! :)

Math Intervention Update and a Freebie

For thirty minutes a day, we have a math intervention block at my school.  Some of my students receive significant number sense interventions in another room but most of my kiddos stay with me.  It's a great time for me to fill holes, remediate and work one on one with some of my kiddos that require just that little bit extra to make a topic click.

So what are the other kids doing? Centers mainly.   I've blogged before about using centers but I've tweaked it a bit since then.  Instead of doing partners, I've changed the centers to groups of four.  This is just what works for my class.  For some reason groups of four work better than partners, who knew?

This week, we are working through my Math is Snow Much Fun Pack of Math Centers.  Click {here} or on the picture to check them out on TpT.

This set of centers is set up much like my previous center packs.

One of my centers always has to do with computation.  This time it was three digit by one digit multiplication.

One center always reinforces a current unit of study, in this case, it was attributes of solids for my class.

Another revisits a topic we have studied before.  The awesome thing about centers is continued exposure to previously taught concepts.
I also try to incorporate one center of fact practice.  This time I made a generic game board and I switch out the self checking flashcards for groups as needed.  Most of my groups are working on division facts, as our multiplication facts are coming along quite nicely. :)

While most of class has been doing centers, I've been working with a group of darlings that need some extra love with geometry.  Think types of angles and triangles, slides, flips, turns, etc. :) Even though they are making so much progress, I know they feel a little jealous about missing out of the center action.  So I've been making Fridays a game day for everyone!  Mainly just resources I already had but this Friday we will play Roll and Cover with 12 sided dice.

Click the picture of {here} to find them on TpT.
I've had lots of emails and comments about making my montly roll and cover freebies with 12 sided dice, so I made ten game boards of roll and cover fun this past weekend. :)  I know my kiddos will love these and they will provide the challenge many of them are really ready for!  I hope yours do too!

I did take a game board or two out for y'all so you could get a feel for these roll and cover games for bigger kids.  My kiddos LOVE these games.

I'm off to finish some data for report cards! Have a great night, friends!

Winter Graphic Organizers and a Winter Multiplication Freebie

Hey friends! I'm working on my New Years Goal right now and focusing on balance.  After I hit publish, I'll be prepping and preparing for our first day back, so I can enjoy some down time this evening with my hubs and pups.

I spent some time over break making the graphic organizers for this month.  I've been blown away by just how successful they have been.  Thank you SO much for your support!  I know my fourth graders love seeing a little seasonal flair when responding to their reading, especially since we don't always have time to do lots of seasonal activities.

Many of my followers on TpT requested a winter theme for this month, so here they are!

Click on the picture or {here} to check them out on TpT or {here} on Teachers Notebook.

This month's multiplication roll and cover is also availableMy kids LOVE playing these games.  They've really helped with our fact fluency.  I've ordered some ten and twelve sided dice...so be on the look out for games with bigger numbers soon! Just click {here} or on the picture below to download them from TpT!

If you went back today, I hope that your days were wonderful! If you go back tomorrow, rest up today and take some time for you!

Don't forget that Fourth and Ten has a Facebook page! It will be a perfect way for me to communicate with my fabulous followers more often as we head back to school!

"arrays" full of sunshine {mini giveaway}

My friends this year love being crafty and I love it too, especially this time of the year! :)  We are currently in the middle of our study of multiplication and we've been having so much fun.  I love, love, love teaching multiplication because of how visual it is.  I feel that beginning multiplication is a skill that most kids just "get" because they can see it.

We just started focusing on arrays and last night the inspiration hit me for a fun little craftivity, "arrays" full of sunshine. :)  I gave each of my friends a multiplication equation and let them go to town.  I always run my templates on construction paper in our copier, easy breezy, nice and easy!

My sample!

This little craftivity was perfect for this time of the year, since summer is so, so close.  I only have three days left and can hardly wait.  Of course my list of end of the year "chores" is about a mile long, but that's okay, summer is near! :)

If you're interested, you can pick up the tracers/templates necessary to make your own "arrays" full of sunshine at my Teachers Pay Teachers and Teacher Notebook stores.
I'll be giving a copy of this craftivity to the first person who correctly guesses the color of my class' fun and field day t dye shirts. :) Don't worry, no funky colors here.  :)  I used a regular ole bottle of liquid Rit.

Happy Friday! :)
